Sometsuke Planting Diagram (Radiation) - Element Plate
Fukuju kiln's ceramics are all hand-painted. They feature a traditional sometsuke (underglaze blue) and akae (overglaze enamel) style, blended uniquely to create a somewhat nostalgic atmosphere. Although these flat plates lack depth, they are recommended for use as a base for other dishes. By placing them on a simple white plate, Western tableware can be transformed with a Japanese aesthetic. They are also perfect for serving delicacies or salt. Mrs. Fukuju has opened her own restaurant, "Kaze no Kamae," where she serves dishes using ingredients unique to Arita on tableware created by her husband. As she is also a table coordination instructor, she suggests ways to use tableware theatrically. These ceramic proposals are born from such a couple.
