ARITA JIKI mugs and tea mugs feature a clean, simple design and can be stacked beautifully. Traditionally, stackable mugs have been designed to nest by their "outer" edges, but ARITA JIKI mugs are designed to nest "internally." Arita is a region renowned for its decorative techniques, such as hand-painting. Therefore, a simpler form with minimal visual noise allows such decoration to stand out. This form was born from our quest to determine how a stackable mug produced in Arita should be designed.

Every piece involves the extra step of carefully applying a shaving tool to create sharper edges. These long-cultivated sensibilities and techniques are vibrantly brought to life within its minimalist forms.
