About Flags
Flags is a group consisting of seven Arita ware pottery companies. Each of the seven companies raised their own flags and stood up to create products that make the most of their strengths, and to become flagships that convey that desire. The collection of these seven flags is called "Flags".
This pottery has one of the oldest histories in Arita, having been in business for nearly 390 years. Speaking of Arita ware, you may think of white porcelain, but Toetsu Kiln is particular about glazes, and after extensive research, they have thousands of glaze recipes. At first glance, they produce beautiful Arita ware that looks like earthenware, but has the strength and ease of care of porcelain.
Since the early Showa era, we have been producing tableware for everyday use with the polka dot pattern that is synonymous with Yoshida ware. Soechigama is the only company in the production area that uses tools to cut out dots after applying the blue clay, and they do this very time-consuming process with great care. Showa retro Mamechawan. It is also recommended as an interior decoration.
The pottery owner owns one of the largest kilns in Arita, and has thousands of different shapes. We have a wide range of techniques and know-how, from hand-painted items to glazed items. In recent years, Arita ware, which has a unique worldview and is used in modern daily life, has been widely used.
Rather than being glamorous, Koyogama is known for its Arita ware, which blends seamlessly into daily life and makes you feel at ease. He takes great care in making pottery by hand, sparing no effort. This time, the traditional Arita ware patterns were hand-painted. Using a glaze made from Isnoki ash, the painting has a soft and gentle impression.
Based on the concept that ``food is complete only when it is served,'' he selects the shape, size, color, and texture of the vessel while imagining ``this kind of food in this vessel.'' In recent years, his specialty has been the technique of expressing flowers using hand-carved uneven surfaces, and he has also used this technique on mame chawans. Because they are hand-carved, each piece is unique in its appearance.
We are taking on the challenge of developing a wide range of products using the material porcelain, not only tableware, but also interior items and stationery. This time, after firing with a celadon glaze, the surface was sandblasted to give it a matte texture, giving the traditional glaze a modern look.
While there are fewer pottery makers who can make traditional Arita ware, the company is working on producing pottery with a focus on high quality and detail by training craftsmen and in-house production, from making the base material. Inspired by early Imari pottery, Arita ware is made to suit the times.
