Red-painted border - Chrysanthemum split 7-inch plate
Koyo Kiln was founded in 1947. At the time, the company mainly produced sake vessels. Its approach has remained unchanged since then. Its goal is to create tableware for everyday use, centered around indigo and white vessels, that are necessary for daily life. It continues to produce these vessels every day, striving to create vessels that blend naturally into living spaces and somehow bring a sense of comfort. It is with this thought in mind that Koyo Kiln's vessels are made.
I think the defining feature of Koyo Kiln is that they create tableware that doesn't fit into any particular mold and can be enjoyed without any stress. The tableware is made using Arita's traditional dyeing and brocade technique, but the designs and colors have been given a modern twist, making it a seamless addition to modern life. When thinking about how to present food, one naturally imagines dishes made with slightly more stylish ingredients, and I believe this is because Koyo's thoughts are reflected in every aspect of the tableware.
