All of Fukuju Kiln's ceramics are hand-painted. With traditional sometsuke (underglaze blue) and aka-e (red overglaze enamel) colors blended uniquely, they evoke a nostalgic charm. Although these dishes are flat and shallow, we recommend using them as a decorative plate to be placed on top of another dish. By placing it on a simple white plate, Western tableware can be transformed to have a Japanese feel. It's also perfect for serving delicacies or salt. Mrs. Fukuju herself opened a restaurant called "Kaze no Kamae," where she serves dishes prepared using local Arita ingredients on the ceramics made by her husband. As she is also a table coordination instructor, she proposes creative ways to use tableware. These ceramics are born from such a couple's collaborative vision.
